Paper chromatography of C19 steroids.

The successful use of paper chromatography for t.he separation of corticoids (2) suggested the general usefulness of this procedure for relat,ed compounds. Two procedures for t.he separation of cardiac glycosides and aglycones have been described (3, 1). Preliminary reports (5, G) and a reference (7) have been made on methods for other steroid hormones. This paper describes an effective system ...

C19-steroids as androgen receptor modulators: design, discovery, and structure-activity relationship of new steroidal androgen receptor antagonists.

Dehydroepiandrosterone (DHEA), the most abundant steroid in human circulating blood, is metabolized to sex hormones and other C19-steroids. Our previous collaborative study demonstrated that androst-5-ene-3beta,17beta-diol (Adiol) and androst-4-ene-3,17-dione (Adione), metabolites of DHEA, can activate androgen receptor (AR) target genes. Adiol is maintained at a high concentration in prostate ...

determination of maximal singularity free zones in the workspace of parallel manipulator

due to the limiting workspace of parallel manipulator and regarding to finding the trajectory planning of singularity free at workspace is difficult, so finding a best solution that can develop a technique to determine the singularity-free zones in the workspace of parallel manipulators is highly important. in this thesis a simple and new technique are presented to determine the maximal singula...

Biosynthesis of tetrahydrobiopterin: possible involvement of tetrahydropterin intermediates.

The biosynthetic pathway of tetrahydrobiopterin (BH(4)) from dihydroneopterin triphosphate (NH(2)P(3)) was studied in fresh as well as heat-treated human liver extracts. The question of NAD(P)H dependency for the formation of sepiapterin was examined. NH(2)P(3) was converted by fresh extracts to sepiapterin in low quantities (2% conversion) in the absence of exogenously added NADPH as well as u...

Oxaziridines as possible intermediates in flavin monooxygenases.

The enzymatic hydroxylation reactions of flavin monooxygenases are suggested to involve an oxaziridine as the active oxygenating agent. The chemistry of these monooxygenases and their nonenzymatic model systems are consistent with an oxaziridine intermediate. Several advantages of the oxaziridine model over the previously proposed "carbonyl oxide" and flavin peroxide models are discussed.
