Stereological inference on mean particle shape from vertical sections

چکیده
Summary It was a major breakthrough when design‐based stereological methods for vertical sections were developed by Adrian Baddeley and coworkers in the 1980s. Most importantly, it shown how to estimate fashion surface area from observations random with uniform position rotation around axis. The great practical importance of these developments is due fact that some biostructures can only be recognised on sections. Later, local estimation mean particle volume developed. In present paper, we review important advances stereology. Quite recently, have gained renewed interest, since has been shape estimated such These new are also reviewed paper.

Stereological Estimation of Tubular Length from Thin Vertical Sections
In this study tubular structures are represented by stem villous arteries of the human placenta. The architecture of the vascular tree in the human placenta makes it appropriate to use vertical histological sections. Describing tubules, estimates of total length and diameter are informative. The aim of the study was to derive a new stereological estimator of the total length of circular tubules...
متن کاملInference for Stereological Extremes
In the production of clean steels the occurrence of imperfections — so-called inclusions — is unavoidable. Furthermore, the strength of a clean steel block is largely dependent on the size of the largest imperfection it contains, so inference on extreme inclusion size forms an important part of quality control. Sampling is generally done by measuring imperfections on planar slices, leading to a...
متن کاملShape-from-Image via Cross-Sections
Using structural geometry, Whiteley showed that a line drawing is a correct projection of a spherical polyhedron if and only if it has a cross-section compatible with it. We here enlarge the class of drawings to which this test applies, including those of polyhedral disks. Our proof is constructive, showing how to derive all spatial interpretations, it relies on elementary synthetic geometric a...
متن کاملShape reconstruction from unorganized cross-sections
In this paper, we consider the problem of reconstructing a shape from unorganized cross-sections. The main motivation for this problem comes from medical imaging applications where cross-sections of human organs are obtained by means of a free hand ultrasound apparatus. The position and orientation of the cutting planes may be freely chosen which makes the problem substantially more difficult t...
