Step Length Asymmetry Predicts Rehabilitation Length in Subacute Post Stroke Patients

چکیده
Background: During the rehabilitation of individuals post stroke, evaluations are performed in order to discern patient’s prognosis and optimize treatment plan. However, these tests do not focus on gait symmetry, which might be a predictor for outcomes. We aimed correlate symmetry measures subacute stroke patients with outcome find measure that best predicts variability duration. A secondary aim was compare between right left brain lesions. Methods: recruited 30 (14 side lesion). collected following measures: National Institutes Health Stroke Scale (NIHSS), Functional Independence Measure (FIM), 10 m walk test (10MWT), Ambulation Categories (FAC), spatial-temporal measures, variability. Results: found moderate correlations step length rehabilitation, NIHSS, FIM, FAC 10MWT. The index predicted period as it explained 32.1% its variance (p = 0.001). Discussion: conclude simple informative predicting patients.

Step length asymmetry is representative of compensatory mechanisms used in post-stroke hemiparetic walking.
Post-stroke hemiparetic subjects walk with asymmetrical step lengths that are highly variable between subjects and may be indicative of the underlying impairments and compensatory mechanisms used. The goal of this study was to determine if post-stroke hemiparetic subjects grouped by step length asymmetry have similar abnormal walking biomechanics compared to non-impaired walkers. Kinematic and ...

متن کاملStep Length Asymmetry Is Indicative of Compensatory Mechanisms Used to Overcome Plantarflexor Weakness in Post-stroke Hemiparetic Gait
Post-stroke hemiparetic subjects walk with asymmetrical step lengths that are highly variable between subjects and may be indicative of underlying compensatory mechanisms utilized to overcome paretic plantarflexor impairment. The goal of this study was to examine the walking biomechanics of post-stroke hemiparetic subjects grouped by step length asymmetry and compare them to healthy controls wa...

Walking speed and step length asymmetry modify the energy cost of walking after stroke.
BACKGROUND A higher energy cost of walking poststroke has been linked to reduced walking performance and reduced participation in the community. OBJECTIVE To determine the contribution of postintervention improvements in walking speed and spatiotemporal gait asymmetry to the reduction in the energy cost of walking after stroke. METHODS In all, 42 individuals with chronic hemiparesis (>6 mon...
