Stand Diversity and Carbon Stock of a Tropical Forest in the Deng Deng National Park, Cameroon

Tropical rainforests are crucial in maintaining about 70% of the world’s plant and animal biodiversity also highest terrestrial carbon reservoir. This study aimed to determine tree species composition, structure stocks Deng National Park which is a semi-deciduous tropical forest (plots 1 2 transition zone savannah (plot 3). Plots demarcation enumeration followed standard protocols for permanent monitoring plots. The inventory ≥ cm revealed total 5523 individuals 64 53 genera belonging 26 families with plot having (2135 individuals/ha) 3 least (1291 individuals/ha). Tabernaemontana crassa was most important Lecythis idatimon savannah. Basal area diameter distribution trees all types displayed reverse J-pattern. Aboveground biomass (530.2 ± 66.4 t·C/ha) (184.3 20.1 t·C/ha). stock above ground twice as much that below biomass, soil organic matter litter. estimated pools 278.75 t·C/ha. site poor diversity, stock, indicating disturbed absence large undergoing natural regeneration. underlines an urgent need efficient restoration management practices.
