چکیده
Abstract This paper demonstrates a stacking sequence optimisation process of composite aircraft wing skin. A two-stage approach is employed to satisfy all sizing requirements this industrial sized, medium altitude, long endurance drone. In the first stage optimisation, generic stacks are used describe thickness and stiffness properties structure while considering both structural discrete guidelines such as blending. second mathematical programming solve Mixed Integer Linear Programming formulation optimisation. The proposed suitable for real-world thick structures comprised multiple patches. Different discretisation strategies examined retrieval sequences, with each one having different influence on satisfaction constraints across various sub-components wing. weight penalty introduced between continuous final design negligible.

Topology Optimisation of Representative Aircraft Wing Geometries with an Experimental Validation
Abstract: Increasingly aircraft are being designed to be more environmentally friendly and fuel efficient, as defined by the 2020-Vision and Flight-Path EU initiatives. This entails a reduction in aircraft weight while still maintaining all the other constraints. The conventional, semi-monocoque, aircraft design has not changed for the past 50 years. Recently, developments in aircraft design ha...
متن کاملThe performance of an iced aircraft wing
The goal of this thesis work has been to develop and manufacture an ice layer which was to be mounted on the tip of a scaled down wing model. The iced wing should be tested in a wind tunnel and aerodynamic comparisons should be made to the same wing without ice. The development of the ice was carried out as a modified product development process. The main differences are that there is no costum...
متن کاملAcousto-Ultrasonic In Situ Monitoring of Fatigue Cracking in an Aircraft Wing Skin Specimen
The concept of in situ Structural Health Monitoring (iSHM) involves incorporating a diagnostic capability to detect and monitor damage in structural ‘hot spots’. These systems allow the introduction of Condition Based Monitoring (CBM) approaches for ageing aircraft fleets and thus could help significantly reduce through-life support costs and increase aircraft availability. The Australian Defen...
متن کاملObliique-Wing Aircraft
The application of the eigensystem synthesis technique to place the closed-loop eigenvalues and shape the closed-loop eigenvectors has not been practical for active flutter suppression, primarily because of the availability of only one control surface (aileron) for flutter suppression. The oblique-wing aircraft, because of its configuration, provides two independent surfaces (left and right ail...
