Spin-phonon interaction in yttrium iron garnet

Spin-phonon interaction is an important channel for spin and energy relaxation in magnetic insulators. Understanding this critical developing insulator-based spintronic devices. Quantifying yttrium iron garnet (YIG), one of the most extensively investigated insulators, remains challenging because large number atoms a unit cell. Here, we report temperature-dependent polarization-resolved Raman measurements YIG bulk crystal. We first classify phonon modes based on their symmetry. then develop modified mean-field theory define symmetry-adapted parameter to quantify spin-phonon phonon-mode specific way time YIG. Based improved theory, discover positive correlation between strength frequency.
