Spin operator, Bell nonlocality and Tsirelson bound in quantum-gravity induced minimal-length quantum mechanics

چکیده
Abstract Different approaches to quantum gravity converge in predicting the existence of a minimal scale length. This raises fundamental question as whether and how an intrinsic limit spatial resolution can affect mechanical observables associated internal degrees freedom. We answer this general terms by showing that spin operator acquires momentum-dependent contribution mechanics equipped with Among other consequences, modification induces form nonlocality stronger than one arising ordinary mechanics. In particular, we show violations Bell inequality exceed maximum value allowed mechanics, so-called Tsirelson bound, positive-valued function momentum operator. introduce possible experimental settings based on neutron interferometry contextuality, provide preliminary estimates values physical parameters needed for actual laboratory implementations.

The length operator in Loop Quantum Gravity
The dual picture of quantum geometry provided by a spin network state is discussed. From this perspective, we introduce a new operator in Loop Quantum Gravity – the length operator. We describe its quantum geometrical meaning and derive some of its properties. In particular we show that the operator has a discrete spectrum and is diagonalized by appropriate superpositions of spin network states...
متن کاملNonlocality beyond quantum mechanics
NATURE PHYSICS | VOL 10 | APRIL 2014 | www.nature.com/naturephysics Quantum mechanics is, without any doubt, our best theory of nature. Apart from gravity, quantum mechanics explains virtually all known phenomena, from the structure of atoms, the rules of chemistry and properties of condensed matter to nuclear structure and the physics of elementary particles. And it does all this to an unprece...
متن کاملA length operator for canonical quantum gravity
We construct an operator that measures the length of a curve in fourdimensional Lorentzian vacuum quantum gravity. We work in a representation in which a SU(2) connection is diagonal and it is therefore surprising that the operator obtained after regularization is densely defined, does not suffer from factor ordering singularities and does not require any renormalization. We show that the lengt...

متن کاملQuantum steering, entanglement and Bell nonlocality
Quantum steering, the ability of one party to perform a measurement on their side of an entangled system with different outcomes leading to different sets of states for another part of the entangled system arbitrarily far away, is a purely quantum phenomena with no classical analogue. However, it is closely related (and indeed equivalent for pure states) to entanglement and Bell nonlocality. Th...
