Spin Alignment of Dark Matter Halos: Fast Halos

We investigate the spin alignment of dark matter halos by considering a mechanism somewhat similar to tidal locking. dubbed it Tidal Locking Theory (TLT). While Torque is responsible for initial angular momentum halos, locking explains evolution during non-linear ages. Our previous work showed that close encounters between haloes could drastically change their momentum. The current manuscript argues theory predicts partial speed and direction large high-speed halos. To examine this prediction, we use IllustrisTNG simulation look halos' rotation axis. find excess probability about 10 percent at $z=0$ fast haloes; with velocities larger than twice median. show torque halo tends be aligned middle eigendirection tensor. Moreover, $z=10$ are preferentially tensor an 15 percent. fails predict correct while works almost flawlessly $z=10$.
