Spectrophotometric Determination of Mefenamic acid in pure and Pharmaceutical Preparations

Abstract Chromate ions CrO 4 −2 have been used in three simples, rapid, an accurate spectrophotometric method. These methods were suggested to estimate mefenamic acid its pure form and pharmaceutical preparations. different from each other with reactants components, they are similar as, indirect depends on oxidation – reduction reaction. So that, Method 1, based reaction between chromate ion presence of acidic medium sodium oxalate a water soluble, stable pinkish-violet colored complex 1,5-diphenylcarbazide as reagent which was measured at λ max 545 nm. 2 oxidizing catalyst agent indigo carmine 610 soluble blue complex. Finally, method 3 the chrome azurol S red 512 followed Beer’s law (2-40,1.2-40 2-36) μg/mL 1,2 respectively, while molar absorptivity Sandall’s sensitivity 0.84×10 , 0.54×10 1.08×10 1.mol −1 .cm 0.0287, 0.0446 0.0223 μg.cm for respectively. The applied successfully determination formulation good recoveries.
