Spectral entropy and strain energy trends in composite mechanical metamaterials

The strain energy and spectral (Shannon) entropy distributions in composite lattices made of core reinforcement components are investigated by conducting numerical experiments on a set indefinitely tall lattice strips subjected to point surface load. measures the complexity spectrum as it transforms with distance from loaded surface. behavior is tailored adjusting degree anisotropy lattices. Isotropic continuum-like responses exhibited enhanced decay near were associated dispersion over wide spatial area lattice. Highly anisotropic showed slow at localization energy. Interestingly, sufficient surface, all designs same asymptotic rate decay, this also was similar an isotropic continuum material behavior. This implies practice that any exotic properties metamaterials determined their modal selectivity generally better pronounced vicinity loads, they tend diminish periphery these interesting systems.
