Species Identification of Larval Fish in Hawaiian Waters Using DNA Barcoding

نویسندگان

چکیده

Taxonomic information is important to fisheries management and conservation. In this study, we collected 95 specimens of larval fish from Hawaiian waters a total 92 mitochondrial COI barcode sequences were obtained, representing 20 species, 18 genera 12 families. The determined average Kimura-2-parameter distances within genera, families, orders 0.72%, 25.99%, 26.30%, 27.50%, respectively, the mean interspecific distance was found be 36-fold higher than intraspecific distance. Phylogenetic tree analysis showed that individuals belonging same species clustered together could clearly distinguished. findings study can make valuable contribution our knowledge diversity dispersal in waters.

Species identification reveals mislabeling of important fish products in Iran by DNA barcoding

This study reports on the molecular identification of fish species from processed products which had a priori been classified as belonging to 5 important species in Iran for human consumption. DNA barcoding using direct sequencing of an approximately 650bp of mitochondrial Cytochrome oxidase subunit I (COI) gene revealed incorrect labeling of Narrow-barred Spanish mackerel samples. High occurre...

DNA barcoding Australia's fish species.

Two hundred and seven species of fish, mostly Australian marine fish, were sequenced (barcoded) for a 655 bp region of the mitochondrial cytochrome oxidase subunit I gene (cox1). Most species were represented by multiple specimens, and 754 sequences were generated. The GC content of the 143 species of teleosts was higher than the 61 species of sharks and rays (47.1% versus 42.2%), largely due t...

species identification of some fish processing products in iran by dna barcoding

this study pursued the molecular identification of fish species from processed products for human consumption which, a priori, belonged to nine species. dna barcoding using direct sequencing of about 650 bp of the mitochondrial gene cytochrome oxidase subunit i (coi) revealed incorrect labeling in the three alaska pollack samples (11% of all samples). substitution of fish species constitutes se...

DNA Barcoding for Species Identification in Bamboos

DNA barcoding first came to the attention in 2003 when Paul Hebert’s research group at the University of Guelph published a paper titled ‘Biological identifications through DNA barcodes’. The basic principle behind DNA barcoding is based on the fact that small DNA sequences are capable of identifying different species as well as they are able to differentiate them. This technique deals with a n...
