Spatio-temporal Variation of Shallow Microhabitats and Associated Juvenile Fish Assemblages in a Mediterranean Lagoon

چکیده

Coastal lagoons are known to host numerous resident and migrant fish species. Spatio-temporal variation in abiotic biotic conditions these ecosystems results, however, a mosaic of microhabitats that could differently affect juvenile growth survival. To deepen our understanding habitat requirements their spatio-temporal use lagoons, microhabitat characteristics assemblages were monitored jointly small temperate lagoon (the Prévost lagoon), from March October 2019. A total 2206 fishes belonging 22 species collected. Resident species, especially Atherina boyeri, dominated the assemblage (74%), while, among Sparus aurata (8%) Liza (5%) most represented. Changes overall abundance mainly temporal, following seasonal shifts water temperature, salinity, chlorophyll concentration (44.9% co-inertia). However, results revealed distinct types exist distribution them is non-random. Spatial and temporal variation of fish assemblages in a coastal lagoon of the Biosphere Reserve La Encrucijada, Chiapas, Mexico.

Composition and abundance of the ichthyofauna in estuarine and coastal lagoon systems of the South Pacific in Mexico have been scarcely studied. In particular, there is a lack of information on how environmental variables determine the spatio-temporal structure of fish assemblages in those habitats. In this study, fishes were sampled by drop net during twelve months (May 2004 - April 2005) in 2...

Spatial and temporal variations of fish assemblages in a shallow Mediterranean soft- bottom area (Gulf of Fos, France)

− The fish assemblages of two shallow soft-bottom areas located in the Gulf of Fos (NW Mediterranean) were studied by means of 57 trawl surveys carried out on both seasonal and diel scales between 1983 and 1985. A total of 47 fish species was recorded, with a mean density and biomass of 650 individuals ha and 2.67 kg ha, respectively. Most of the fluctuations observed were on the spatial scale....

Fish Assemblages of Mediterranean Marine Caves

Fish assemblages associated with 14 marine caves and adjacent external rocky reefs were investigated at four Marine Protected Areas (MPAs) along the coasts of Italy. Within the caves sampling was carried out in different sub-habitats: walls, ceilings, bottoms and ends of caves. On the whole, 38 species were recorded inside the 14 caves investigated. Eighteen species were exclusively found insid...

Variation in detrital enrichment causes spatio- temporal variation in soft-sediment assemblages

We investigated the importance of algal detritus in determining complex patterns of spatio-temporal variation in annelid assemblages in sites separated by 10s of meters on mudflats on Long Island, New York. We used field sampling to test the hypothesis that spatio-temporal variation in annelid assemblages contributes substantially more to total variation than consistent spatial differences amon...

Spatio-Temporal Variation of Suspended Sediment Concentration at Downstream of a Sand Mine

The growing population led to greater human need to use natural resources such as sand and gravel mines. Direct removal of sands from the bed river leads to increase suspended sediment concentrations in downstream of harvested area and creates other problems viz. filling reservoirs, change in hydraulic characteristics of the channel and environmental damages. However, the range of temporal and ...
