چکیده

Abstract Climate change and human activities influence the development of ecosystems, with demand ecosystem services altering both land use cover. Fossil pollen records provide time series vegetation characteristics, aim this study was to create spatially continuous reconstructions cover through Holocene in southern Sweden. The Landscape Reconstruction Algorithm (LRA) applied obtain quantitative pollen-based at local scales, accounting for production, dispersal, deposition mechanisms. Pollen-based estimates were produced from 41 fossil available region. A comparison 17 interpolation methods made evaluated by comparing current Simple kriging cokriging using elevation selected interpolate characteristics past cover, generate more detailed trends degree variability space than previous studies based on data representing regional scale. Since Mesolithic, two main processes have acted reshape Sweden, originally mostly covered broad-leaved forests. natural distribution limit coniferous forest has moved southward during periods colder climate retracted northward warmer periods, expansion area agrotechnological developments led a gradually open landscape, reaching maximum openness beginning 20th century. recent intensification agriculture abandonment less fertile agricultural fields afforestation conifer forest.

Land-Cover-Change Trajectories in Southern Cameroon

The objective of this study is to better understand the complexity of deforestation processes in southern Cameroon by testing a multivariate, spatial model of land-cover change trajectories associated with deforestation. The spatial model integrates a spectrum of independent variables that characterize land rent on a spatially explicit basis. The use of a time series of high-spatialresolution r...

Pollen-based quantitative reconstructions of Holocene regional vegetation cover (plant-functional types and land-cover types) in Europe suitable for climate modelling.

We present quantitative reconstructions of regional vegetation cover in north-western Europe, western Europe north of the Alps, and eastern Europe for five time windows in the Holocene [around 6k, 3k, 0.5k, 0.2k, and 0.05k calendar years before present (bp)] at a 1° × 1° spatial scale with the objective of producing vegetation descriptions suitable for climate modelling. The REVEALS model was a...

Climatic and land cover influences on the spatiotemporal dynamics of Holocene boreal fire regimes.

Although recent climatic warming has markedly increased fire activity in many biomes, this trend is spatially heterogeneous. Understanding the patterns and controls of this heterogeneity is important for anticipating future fire regime shifts at regional scales and for developing land management policies. To assess climatic and land cover controls on boreal forest fire regimes, we conducted mac...

Climate and land-use change during the late Holocene at Lake Ledro (southern Alps, Italy)

This paper investigates the relative influences of climatic and anthropogenic factors in explaining environmental and societal changes in the southern Alps, Italy. We investigate a deep sediment core (LL081) from Lake Ledro (652 m a.s.l.). Environmental changes are reconstructed through multiproxy analysis, that is, pollen-based vegetation and climate reconstruction, magnetic susceptibility (MS...

An assessment of the influence of land cover uncertainties on the simulation of global climate in the early Holocene

Six and 21 kyear BP represent the extreme states of climate since the last glacial maximum. The early Holocene, in contrast, was a time of transition, experiencing rapidly melting continental ice sheets, rising sea-level, and increasing summer insolation. Key features of the climate, illustrated by an NCAR CCM3 general circulation model experiment representing 11 kyr BP, include enhanced contin...
