چکیده

Variations in the physico-chemical characteristics of estuaries, such as surface water salinity and temperature, lead to establishment gradients that are closely related with distribution nutrients suspended sediment. This affects light penetration, which turn influences Chlorophyll-a (Chl-a) concentration primary productivity. We used MODIS imagery identify spatio-temporal patterns sea salinity, Chl-a concentrations from 2003 2017, explore relationships between these variables oceanographic factors, streamflows, winds currents mouth Colombia's Magdalena River, discharges Caribbean Sea. Sea (SSS) study zone varied time space estuarine marine. Mean SSS was 10.8 ± 3.4 at Bocas de Ceniza, 28.4 0.4 Sea, horizontal gradient providing evidence for existence a plume. monthly temperatures (SST) averaged across all years were 27.6 1.5 °C 1.3 A significant, increasing trend temperature observed throughout period. Average values 3.3 1.4 mg m−3 1.2 calculated average Trophic State Index (TSI) Ceniza indicated estuary trophic state oligo-mesotrophic (30 < TSI≤40) mesotrophic (40 TSI≤50). The highest found intermediate salinities zone. Outside saline plume, there is considerable decrease (<0.5 m−3). Winds played most important role influencing chemical physical Our results emphasize importance processes on biological dynamics River mouth.

Spatial and Temporal Variability of Water Quality for Karun River, in Upstream and Downstream Gotvand Dam

In this study, the spatial and temporal variability of water quality including monthly series of TDS, EC, So4, Cl, Ca and Na in common statistical period 1993-2014 was evaluated for the Karun River. This assessment is based on qualitative data stations including Susan in the upstream of Gotvand reservoir, Gotvand, Mollasani and Ahvaz in the downstream. To determine the parameters trend process,...

Study of Temperature and Salinity Inversions in the Oman Sea

In this research, observational data are analyzed to explain temperature and salinity inversions and double diffusion in the Oman Sea. The results of this paper show that intrusive structures extend over a depth of about 100-450 meters in the Oman Sea. Temperature and salinity inversions observed depth of 250 m in winter and summer in the Oman Sea. Steps thickness is about 10 to 20 meters. A wa...

Spatial patterns of intraseasonal variability of chlorophyll and sea surface temperature in the California Current

[1] Six years of daily satellite data are used to quantify and map intraseasonal variability of chlorophyll and sea surface temperature (SST) in the California Current. We define intraseasonal variability as temporal variation remaining after removal of interannual variability and stationary seasonal cycles. Semivariograms are used to quantify the temporal structure of residual time series. Emp...
