چکیده

This work aims to determine the profiles of cyanopeptides and anatoxin synthetized by cyanobacteria in Lithuanian part Curonian Lagoon (SE Baltic Sea) characterize their spatial temporal patterns this ecosystem. Cyanometabolites were analysed a LC-MS/MS system coupled hybrid triple quadrupole/linear ion trap mass spectrometer. During investigation period (2013–2017), 10 microcystins, nodularin, anatoxin-a, 16 anabaenopeptins, including 1 oscillamide, 12 aeruginosins, aeruginosamide, 3 cyanopeptolins 4 microginins detected. The most frequently detected metabolites found at all investigated sites. Demethylated microcystin variants anabaenopeptins had strongest relationship with Planktothrix agardhii, while non-demethylated Microcystis spp. Low concentrations some microcystins: [Asp3]MC-RR, MC-RR, MC-LR, as well few other cyanopeptides: AP-A AEG-A during cold (December–March). Over study period, Aphanizomenon, main dominant species, Planktothrix, Microcystis, Dolichospermum potentially producers samples from Lagoon.

Transport of (137)Cs, (241)Am and Pu isotopes in the Curonian Lagoon and the Baltic Sea.

Activities of (137)Cs, (241)Am and (239,240)Pu were analyzed with special emphasis on better understanding of radionuclide transport from land via the Neman River estuaries to the Baltic Sea and behavior in the marine environment. Although activity concentrations of (137)Cs in water samples collected the Baltic Sea were almost 100 times higher as compared to the Curonian Lagoon, its activities ...

Draft Genome Sequence of the Cyanobacterium Aphanizomenon flos-aquae Strain 2012/KM1/D3, Isolated from the Curonian Lagoon (Baltic Sea)

We report here the de novo genome assembly of a cyanobacterium, Aphanizomenon flos-aquae strain 2012/KM1/D3, a harmful bloom-forming species in temperate aquatic ecosystems. The genome is 5.7 Mb with a G+C content of 38.2%, and it is enriched mostly with genes involved in amino acid and carbohydrate metabolism.

Remediation of a Eutrophic Bay in the Baltic Sea.

Eutrophication of coastal ecosystems is a global problem that often results in bottom water oxygen deficiency and in turn promotes sediment phosphorus (P) release (A). In order to increase sediment P retention, we injected dissolved aluminum into the anoxic sediment of a eutrophic semienclosed bay in the Baltic Sea, thereby inhibiting P recycling and further eutrophication (B). The P concentrat...

Spatial heterogeneity of nutrients in the Baltic Proper, Baltic Sea

The Baltic Proper shows many signs of eutrophication. Nutrient changes over time have been discernable, and also within the Sea there are large spatial patterns. Present study analyses the spatial patterns of dissolved inorganic nitrogen and phosphorus as well as dissolved silicate (DSi) in the euphotic zone for the period 1990-2001. The focus is on the spatial heterogeneity with the aim to ide...
