Sorption of dissolved organic matter by freshwater bacterioplankton

Here we describe the study of sorption high-molecular components dissolved organic matter (DOM) natural waters - humic acids by eight bacterial strains isolated from freshwater. Isotherms DOM cells are described Langmuir equation. Gram-positive bacteria adsorb more than gram-negative bacteria, with high molecular weight fractions binding in a relatively selective manner. A positive correlation (r = 0.91) was found between decrease during these compounds and maximum value. The formation polysaccharide capsule increases Pseudomonas sp . to level gram-positive bacteria.
