Sonophotocatalysis—Limits and Possibilities for Synergistic Effects

چکیده

Advanced oxidation processes are promising techniques for water remediation and degradation of micropollutants in aqueous systems. Since single such as sonolysis photocatalysis exhibit limitations, combined AOP systems can enhance efficiency. The present work addresses the synergistic intensification potential an ultrasound-assisted (sonophotocatalysis) bisphenol A with a low-frequency sonotrode (f = 20 kHz) batch-system. effects energy input suspended photocatalyst dosage (TiO2-nanoparticle, m 0–0.5 g/L) were investigated. To understand effects, sonication characteristics investigated by bubble-field analysis, hydrophone measurements, chemiluminescence luminol to identify cavitation areas due generation hydroxyl radicals. Comparing sonophotocatalysis (incl. mechanical stirring), synergies up 295% rates 1.35 min−1 achieved. Besides proof intensification, investigation efficiency degree 80% shows that process optimization be realized. Thus, it could demonstrated there is effective limit depending on TiO2 dosage.

Pleiotropic effects of niacin: Current possibilities for its clinical use.

Niacin was the first hypolipidemic drug to significantly reduce both major cardiovascular events and mortality in patients with cardiovascular disease. Niacin favorably influences all lipoprotein classes, including lipoprotein[a],and belongs to the most potent hypolipidemic drugs for increasing HDL-C. Moreover, niacin causes favorable changes to the qualitative composition of lipoprotein HDL. I...

Synergistic effects of glucan and resveratrol

Recent data showing that glucan stimulates defense reactions in plants through synthesis of resveratrol, led us to study the possible synergetic effects of a glucan-resveratrol complex on immune reactions in mice. We measured phagocytic activity, expression of CD4 marker on spleen cells, IL-2 secretion and antibody response. In all cases we confirmed the stimulatory effects of glucan. Resveratr...
