Rules vs. Analogy in Mandarin Classifier Selection
A long-running debate concerns whether human language is processed solely by analogy to memorized exemplars, as connectionists have claimed, or instead may be processed by symbolmanipulating rules (e.g. Pinker 1999). In this paper we bring this debate to the Mandarin noun classifier system, arguing that the so-called general classifier 個 ge is selected by a default rule. Reviewing evidence from...
متن کاملA Tactic Language for Hiproofs
We introduce and study a tactic language, Hitac, for constructing hierarchical proofs, known as hiproofs. The idea of hiproofs is to superimpose a labelled hierarchical nesting on an ordinary proof tree. The labels and nesting are used to describe the organisation of the proof, typically relating to its construction process. This can be useful for understanding and navigating the proof. Tactics...
متن کاملSome Quality Measures for Fuzzy Association Rules
Several approaches generalizing crisp association rules to fuzzy association rules have been proposed. In an our previous paper we introduced a pair of confidence measures for crisp association rules from which one can be obtained the majority known quality measures. In this paper, starting from these results we give an extension to fuzzy association rules.
