Some fallout radionuclides in deep waters around Japan.
Deep water samples collected in 1963 and 1964 in the adjacent seas of Japan were analyzed radiochemically. Sr-90 and Cs-137 were detected in the deep layers down to 6,000 meters deep and showed approximately uniform vertical distributions below 1,000 meters. Mean concentrations of Sr-90 in deep waters were 0.028 ƒÊƒÊc/l in the Pacific and 0.035ƒÊƒÊc /l in the northern Japan Sea, and those of Cs...
متن کاملA Dataset of Deep-Sea Fishes Surveyed by Research Vessels in the Waters around Taiwan
The study of deep-sea fish fauna is hampered by a lack of data due to the difficulty and high cost incurred in its surveys and collections. Taiwan is situated along the edge of the Eurasia fig, at the junction of three Large Marine Ecosystems or Ecoregions of the East China Sea, South China Sea and the Philippines. As nearly two-thirds of its surrounding marine ecosystems are deep-sea environme...
متن کاملOn a Collection of Fishes Made by Mr . Alan Owston in the Deep Waters of Japan
The writers have recently received from Mr. Alan Owston, of Yokohama, well known as a shipmaster and as a collector in natural history, a very remarkable series of fishes obtained on long lines in the depths of Sagami bay and Siiruga bay, Japan. The present paper contains notes on these species, together with field notes of Mr. Owston. The specimen of Mitsukurina otvstoni and some of the others...
متن کاملDetermination of radiological map of radionuclides distribution in soils around of Shazand oil power plant
In this study, 34 soil samples were collected from the east of the Shazand power plant to the Arak city, with a length of 25 km. The specific activities of radionuclides of 226Ra, 232Th, 40K, and 137Cs were determined using gamma-ray spectrometry method. Gamma-ray spectra registered to employ high purity germanium (HPGe) detector with 30% relative efficiency. Specific activities of correspondi...
متن کاملRelease and Movement of Radionuclides in Soils Contaminated with Fallout Material from an Underground Thermonuclear Detonation.
Fallout material from an underground thermonuclear detonation was analyzed to determine the presence of several longer lived radionuclides. The following radionuclides were identified: Zr95-Nb95, Rul03, Rul06Rhl06, 1131, Csl37-Bal37, Bal40-Lal4O, Cel4l, Cel44-Prl44, Sc46. Mn54, Y88, Rhl02, W181., W185, and W188-ReI88. Radiotungsten contributed the major fraction of the total activity. In suspen...
