Arithmetic of Unicritical Polynomial Maps

with derivative g b(w) = w n−1 , and use the conjugacy invariant b̂ = b . These normal forms (0.1) and (0.2) are related by the change of variable formula w = nz with b̂ = nĉ , and hence b = nc . (In particular, in the degree two case, b = b̂ is equal to 4c = 4ĉ .) If A is any ring contained in the complex numbers C , it will be convenient to use the non-standard notation A for the integral closur...

Dynamics of Split Polynomial Maps: Uniform Bounds for Periods and Applications

Let K be an algebraically closed field of characteristic 0. Following Medvedev-Scanlon, a polynomial of degree δ ≥ 2 is said to be disintegrated if it is not linearly conjugate to x or ±Tδ(x) where Tδ(x) is the Chebyshev polynomial of degree δ. Let d and n be integers greater than 1, we prove that there exists an effectively computable constant c(d, n) depending only on d and n such that the fo...

Primitive Prime Divisors in Polynomial Arithmetic Dynamics

The question of which terms of a recurrence sequence fail to have primitive prime divisors has been significantly studied for several classes of linear recurrence sequences and for elliptic divisibility sequences. In this paper, we consider the question for sequences generated by the iteration of a polynomial. For two classes of polynomials f(x) ∈ Z[x] and initial values a1 ∈ Z, we show that th...

Chaotic Dynamics of Some Rational Maps

The goal of this paper is to analyze the dynamics and the Devaneychaotic behavior of some classes of real rational functions. A key element is the description of the pull-backs of the set of points where the denominator has a zero. The kneading theory developed by Milnor and Thurston is applied to this set in order to establish topological conjugacy between some of these classes.
