Self-assembly relies on the ability of smaller and discrete entities to spontaneously arrange into more organized systems by means structure-encoded information. Herein, we show that design media can play a role even important than chemical design. The not only determines self-assembly pathway at single-component level, but in very narrow solvent composition, supramolecular homo-aggregate be non-covalently wrapped second component possesses different crystal lattice. Such process has been followed real time confocal microscopy thanks emission colors aggregates formed two isolated PtII complexes. This coating is reversible controlled composition. Single-crystal X-ray diffraction molecular simulations based coarse-grained (CG) models allowed understanding properties displayed aggregates. findings could result new method construct hierarchical structures.
