چکیده
The solution-cathode glow discharge (SCGD) is a low-power, atmospheric-pressure, ambient-atmosphere microplasma that proving to be proficient excitation source for atomic emission spectroscopy (AES). analytical figures of merit SCGD-AES experiments often compete with established, conventional approaches despite the fact it simple, small, low-cost instrument. operating principles SCGD are reviewed here, including experimental parameters, plasma conditions, performance, matrix interferences, and application examples.

Analysis of Optical Emission Spectroscopy on Discharges
Optical spectroscopy is investigated with respect to its capabilities to yield temperature information from line intensities of low temperature plasmas. The method is non-invasive and easy to perform experimentally. The data analysis model consists of a population model describing the intensities of light emission. Geometry effects and measurement errors are encountered. The quantity of interes...
متن کاملAbsolute Spatially- and Temporally-Resolved Optical Emission Measurements of rf Glow Discharges in Argon
Spatially- and temporally-resolved measurements of optical emission intensities are presented from rf discharges in argon over a wide range of pressures (6.7 to 133 Pa) and applied rf voltages (75 to 200 V). Results of measurements of emission intensities are presented for both an atomic transition (Ar I, 750.4 nm) and an ionic transition (Ar II, 434.8 nm). The absolute scale of these optical e...
متن کاملModeling nonthermal plasmas generated in glow discharges*
Over the past decade, tremendous progress has been made in the modeling of nonthermal plasmas, and models have now reached the point that they are being used to help guide the experimental optimization of plasma based devices. In this communication we provide an overview of models used to describe nonthermal plasma generated in glow discharges. We show results from two applications, plasma disp...
متن کاملApparent secondary-electron emission coefficient and the voltage-current characteristics of argon glow discharges.
The accuracy of secondary-electron emission coefficients, that are used as input data of discharge models, seriously influences the calculated discharge characteristics. As it is very difficult to consider all possible electron emission processes of a cold cathode separately, in most of the recent models an apparent secondary coefficient gamma is applied, which is often assumed to be constant, ...
