Solid Removal across the Bed Depth in Media Filters for Drip Irrigation Systems

Pressurized sand media filters are commonly used in drip irrigation systems to prevent emitter clogging. However, the performance of these may be improved with more information about retention solids at different bed depths under filter operation conditions and water sources. In this study, experiments a scaled were conducted clog two filtration velocities (30 60 m h−1) two-particle types (inorganic from A4 coarse dust organic reclaimed effluent). The suspended retained slices 5 mm (in first 20 bed) (from 200 depth) thick determined following van Staden Haarhoff (2011) procedure. each slice per mass significantly (p < 0.05) affected by interaction between velocity, depth, particle type. higher than other depths. Moreover, inorganic upper ones. Therefore, adjusted depending on source optimize use.
