Soil Quality and Organic Matter Pools in a Temperate Climate (Northern Italy) under Different Land Uses

چکیده
Temperate soils are threatened by degradation and soil organic matter (SOM) loss due to a combination of geomorphology, types, anthropic pressure. In 54 sites in Northern Italy, characterized different land uses, climates, geological substrates, soils, we assessed (i) the quality, (ii) SOM accumulation/degradation patterns, (iii) whether use related management practices sustainable based on changes quality. Soil samples from 0–15 15–30 cm deep layers were collected analyzed for parameters recommended FAO (bulk density, pH, microbial C, total N, respiration rate) chemical pools. Parameters efficient C also calculated. The findings showed that agricultural lands where material was added had good quality used efficiently. Reclaimed peaty degraded because conditions too stressful biomass as supported high metabolic quotient low values mineralization quotient, biofertility index. Conservative carried out chestnuts found have decreased risk. An investigation can be evaluate activity dynamics.

Soil Respiration under Different Land Uses in Eastern China
Land-use change has a crucial influence on soil respiration, which further affects soil nutrient availability and carbon stock. We monitored soil respiration rates under different land-use types (tea gardens with three production levels, adjacent woodland, and a vegetable field) in Eastern China at weekly intervals over a year using the dynamic closed chamber method. The relationship between so...
متن کاملThe Effect of Different Land Uses on New Indices of Soil Quality in Central Alborz Region
Different land uses have various effects on the changes of soil properties. The purpose of this study was to evaluate the effects of natural forest, needle-leaved plantation and rangelands of central Alborz on new indices of soil quality (i.e. organic matter stratification, carbon management index and soil biological activities). For this purpose, eight samples from organic layer (litter) and m...
متن کاملA Case Study of Carbon Pools under Three Different Land-uses in Panamá
This paper examines changes in carbon (C) pools associated with land-use, synthesizing data from two experiments dealing with different aspects of tree plantation establishment in Central Panamá. First, we analysed soil profiles in a grazed pasture and an adjacent 5-year-old teak (Tectona grandis) plantation. There were small differences in soil C mass in the top 10 cm of the pasture and the pl...

[1] The Northern Circumpolar Soil Carbon Database was developed in order to determine carbon pools in soils of the northern circumpolar permafrost region. The area of all soils in the northern permafrost region is approximately 18,782 10 km, or approximately 16% of the global soil area. In the northern permafrost region, organic soils (peatlands) and cryoturbated permafrost-affected mineral soi...

Afforestation, as a tool to mitigate carbon emission is constrained by available land areain several countries, but Iran has the potential of plantation. In doing so, differences in soilstocks between tree species could give an indication of the effects of future managementchanges. Hence, a better understanding of tree species traits on soil properties is required topredict how changes in ecosy...
