چکیده
In the Shatt Al-Arab basin, soil erosion is a major problem due to steepness of terrain and significant difference in altitude between upstream downstream parts basin. Vast quantities are moved annually, resulting massive repercussions including degradation, structural damage, biodiversity loss, productivity reduction catchment area, huge sediment load, pollution streams rivers. Consequently, assessment risk geographical distribution essential for constructing database developing effective control strategies. Revised Universal Soil Loss Equation (RUSLE) was combined with Remote Sensing (RS) Geographic Information System (GIS) current work define hazard map The RUSLE model included various characteristics zonation rainfall erosivity, erodibility, slope length steepness, land cover management, conservation support practices. Annual rates this study tons per hectare were: extremely high (more than 50); very (50 16.5); (16.5 2.2); medium (2.2 1); low (1 0) ton ha−1year−1 representing 16, 4, 13, 7, 60 % basin’s respectively. loss associated heavy rainfall, loamy predominance, elevated terrains/plateau borders steep side slope, intensive farming. Managers policymakers may use results implement adequate programs prevent or recommend acts if development projects proceed places risk.

Modeling Soil Erosion Using Rusle and Gis Tools
Soil erosion involves detachment and transport of soil particles from top soil layers, degrading soil quality and reducing the productivity of affected lands. Soil eroded from the upland catchment causes depletion of fertile agricultural land and the resulting sediment deposited at the river networks creates river morphological change and reservoir sedimentation problems. However, land managers...
متن کاملSoil erosion assessment using geographical information system (GIS) and remote sensing (RS) study from Ankara-Guvenc Basin, Turkey.
The objective of this research was to assess vulnerable soil erosion risk with qualitative approach using GIS in Ankara-Guvenc Basin. The study area is located about 44 km north of Ankara and covers 17.5 km2. The selected theme layers of this model include topographic factor, soil factors (depth, texture, impermeable horizon) and land use. Slope layer and land use-land cover data were prepared ...
متن کاملAssessing the vulnerability to soil erosion of the Ukai Dam catchments using remote sensing and GIS
The investigation of basins for planning soil conservation requires a selective approach to identify smaller hydrological units, which would be suitable for more efficient and targeted conservation management programmes. One criterion, generally used to determine the vulnerability of catchments to erosion, is the sediment yield of a basin. In India, sediment yield data are generally not collect...

The degradation rate of Mediterranean steppes, especially in North Africa is 1% per year, and this considered a high rate of degradation. This study conducted in 2014 in the south slope of the Al-Jabal Al-Akhdar, northeast Libya to quantify the vegetation recovery rate and assess selected Vegetation Indices (VIs) for mapping rangelands degradation status using remote sensing technology. Throug...
