Soil carbohydrate and aggregation as affected by carbohydrate composition of paper mill biosolids

چکیده
Papermill biosolids (PB) are recognized as a valuable source of carbon for the physical improvement arable soils. However, little is known about composition carbohydrates these materials and their breakdown in soil, which contribute to soil structural stability. The objectives this study were characterize PB determine under controlled conditions field carbohydrate content water-stable aggregation. experiment consisted applied every year (2000-2008) at 0, 30, 60 Mg wet weight·ha-1 annual row crops with soils collected after 3, 6, 9 years. other added 50 two soils, clay sandy loam, incubated 25 °C 60% water-filled pore space 16 wk. differed galactose, mannose, arabinose total fraction sum water-soluble fraction. In field, repeated application increased most (sum individuals) 3 years proportion >1 mm stable aggregates. incubation confirmed results obtained where richest induced highest increases both types. Soil microbial (galactose mannose)-derived closely correlated percentage large aggregates, while carbohydrates, they all highly amount applied, thus further contributing improve C quality.

Thermal aggregation of egg white proteins as affected by saccharides
Thermal characteristics of egg white proteins (EWP) may differ in the presence of saccharides. Therefore, the influence of saccharides including carboxymethyl cellulose (CMC), pectin, sucrose and maltodextrin and heating time on physicochemical characteristics of EWP as a whole were studied. Investigation of Heat Coagulation Time (HCT), solubility, turbidity and protein secondary structure of h...
متن کاملDigestion kinetics of carbohydrate fractions of citrus by-products
The present experiment was carried out to determine the digestion kinetics of carbohydrate fractions of citrus by-products. Grapefruit pulp (GP), lemon pulp (LE), lime pulp (LI) and orange pulp (OP) were the test feed. Digestion kinetic of whole citrus by-products and neutral detergent fiber (NDF) fraction and acid detergent fiber (ADF) fractions of citrus by-products were measured using the <e...
متن کاملAlkaline Reserve Capacity of Whole Blood and Carbohydrate Mobilization as Affected by Hemorrhage
Hemorrhage as an etiological factor in the causation of hyperglycemia has been for a number of years the subject of considerable investigation. Schenck (1) in 1894 made an extended study of the conditions under which hemorrhage may produce hyperglycemia. He found that when hemorrhage was produced after ligation of the liver vessels there resulted instead of an increase of blood sugar, an actual...
متن کاملCarbohydrate-deficient transferrin is not affected by serum separators.
We studied the possible effects on serum carbohydrate-deficient transferrin (CDT) determination by a CDTect (Pharmacia) method of serum isolation in four different types of blood-collection tubes, namely: (1) glass tubes (glass Vacutainer tubes with no additive); (2) S-Monovette Neutral tubes (plastic tubes with no additive); (3) S-Monovette Serum tubes (plastic tubes with kaolin-coated plastic...
