Soil alterations by chronosequence of pastures in crop-livestock-forestry systems

چکیده
The intensive use of land has accelerated the loss soil quality, a process that can be avoided by adopting conservationist production systems, such as Integrated Crop-Livestock-Forest (CLFI system). It is noteworthy in Southwest State Maranhão substantial portion soils rural properties are degraded and distinct stages erosion, since they have been exploited for decades with non-properly managed pastures. Therefore, objective this work was to emphasize importance physical chemical changes pastures under crop-livestock-forest integration general Amazon region state Maranhão, Brazil. literature review conducted through search studies Google Scholar database, which encompasses multiple other databases, Scielo, Elsevier, Scopus, Capes, others. In face conditions degradation throughout broad distribution native forests Babassu forests, technology from CLFI systems could allow their recovery sustainable status means economically ecologically feasible productivity. Research on field therefore necessary highlight short- long-term efficiencies regarding carbon sequestration quality organic matter soil.

Overutilization of Pastures by Livestock
Soil degradation caused by overgrazing is a worldwide problem. The degradation of an overutilized area occurs mainly where animals prefer to spend extra time because of the attractants that are around gateways, water sources, along fences or farm buildings. High grazing pressure decreases plant density which results in changes of the botanical composition of a pasture. The effect that grazing h...

a substantial global increase in the demand for food of animal origin, while also aggravating the competition between crops and livestock (increasing cropping areas and reducing rangelands). The livestock revolution 1 is stretching the capacity of existing production, but it is also exacerbating environmental problems. Therefore, while it is necessary to satisfy consumer demand, improve nutriti...

Beyond grazing, managed grasslands provide ecological services that may offer economic incentives for multifunctional use. Increasing biodiversity of plant communities may maximize net primary production by optimizing utilization of available light, water, and nutrient resources; enhance production stability in response to climatic stress; reduce invasion of exotic species; increase soil OM; re...
متن کاملImpacts of genomics and other ‘omics’ for the crop, forestry, livestock, fishery and agro-industry sectors in developing countries
Advances in genomics, the study of all the genetic material (i.e. the genome) of an organism, have been remarkable in recent years. Publication of the first draft of the human genome in 2001 was a milestone, quickly followed by that of the first crop (rice) in 2002 and the first farm animal (chicken) in 2004. Huge technological advancements have meant that sequencing has become dramatically qui...
