چکیده
Abstract The field of biometrics research encompasses the need to associate an identity individual based on persons physiological or behaviour traits. While use intrusive techniques such as retina scans and finger print identification has resulted in highly accurate systems, scalability systems real-world applications surveillance border security been limited. As a branch research, origin soft could be traced back for non-intrusive solutions extracting traits person. Following high number outcomes reported literature biometrics, this paper aims consolidate scope across four thematic schemes (i) detailed review data sets, their annotation strategies building largest novel collection traits; (ii) assessment metrics that affect performance system; (iii) comparative analysis feature modality level fusion enhancing system performance; (iv) hybrid recognition using multi-scale criterion. also presents global associated person gender, age ethnicity. contribution is provide comprehensive scientific literature, identify open challenges offer insights new directions filed.

On soft biometrics
Innovation has formed much of the rich history in biometrics. The field of soft biometrics was originally aimed to augment the recognition process by fusion of metrics that were sufficient to discriminate populations rather than individuals. This was later refined to use measures that could be used to discriminate individuals, especially using descriptions that can be perceived using human visi...
متن کاملSoft-Biometrics: Soft-Computing for Biometric-Applications
Biometrics, the computer-based validation of a persons’ identity, is becoming more and more essential due to the increasing demand for high-security systems. A biometric system testifies the authenticity of a specific physiological or behavioral characteristic possessed by a user. New requirements over actual biometric systems as robustness, higher recognition rates, tolerance for imprecision a...
متن کاملBiometrics Verification: a Literature Survey
Biometric verification refers to an automatic verification of a person based on some specific biometric features derived from his/her physiological and/or behavioral characteristics. A biometric verification system has more capability to reliably distinguish between an authorized person and an imposter than the traditional systems that use a card or a password. In biometrics, a person could be ...
متن کاملA Survey of Multimodal Biometrics
Biometric technologies are used to analyse human characteristics for security purposes. The most common physical biometrics patterns analyzed for security purposes are the fingerprint, hand, eye, face and voice. The advantages of using biometrics to verify a person’s identity over using passwords or token have been broadly presented in many research papers. However recent research has revealed ...
متن کاملSoft Computing in Biometrics: A Pragmatic Appraisal
The ever increasing spurt in digital crimes such as image manipulation, image tampering, signature forgery, image forgery, illegal transaction, etc. have hard pressed the demand to combat these forms of criminal activities. In this direction, biometrics the computer-based validation of a persons' identity is becoming more and more essential particularly for high security systems. The essence of...
