Socioeconomic Determinants of Gender-Specific Life Expectancy in Turkey: A Time Series Analysis

This paper analyses the socioeconomic determinants of Turkey’s aggregate and gender-specific life expectancies from 1971 to 2017. The stationarity data is checked with ADF, PP, DFGLS unit root tests, while structural breaks are determined help Zivot Andrews (2002) test. Also, ARDL bound test conducted identify co-integration. estimated results show that overall level education, purchasing power, economic development have a significant role in deciding average expectancy among Turkish population at aggregate, growth environmental degradation found be insignificant. Gender-wise, estimation degradation, male education contribute significantly males Turkey, share insignificant effects. Moreover, female fertility rates, affect females' expectancy, power plays statistically role. Overall, suggest Turkey's government should implement policies increase educational attainment, stabilize maintain sustainable controlled rates for higher-level expectancy.
