چکیده
Background: Multiple sclerosis (MS) is categorized into four subtypes, including clinically-isolated syndrome (CIS), primary progressive multiple (PPMS), secondary (SPMS), and relapsing-remitting (RRMS). On the other hand, radiologically-isolated (RIS) characterized by imaging manifestations of MS rather than its clinical symptoms. Objectives: This study aimed to compare sociodemographic neuroimaging findings different phenotypes RIS. Methods: The current cross-sectional was conducted on 3716 patients at Sclerosis Clinic Kashani Hospital, Isfahan, Iran, from June 2018 April 2019. Patients presenting with RIS, CIS, were included in this study. Results: age disease onset remarkably lower RRMS, while body mass index significantly higher RIS (P-value < 0.05). Other factors, gender, occupation, marital status, smoking, family history MS, showed no significant difference > Neuroimaging assessments revealed differences terms location plaques, activity brain atrophy, lesion load, number cervical presence longitudinally-extended transverse myelitis 0.05), but not regarding thoracolumbar plaques lesions Conclusions: Different variations characteristics. Follow-up studies are recommended determine risk factors predicting conversion CIS phenotypes.

Conversion from Radiologically Isolated Syndrome to Multiple Sclerosis
BACKGROUND The aim of this study was to estimate the conversion rate from radiologically isolated syndrome (RIS) to definite multiple sclerosis (MS). METHODS During a mean (standard deviation [SD]) follow-up period of 17.4 (5.4) (range 8-29) months, 25 subjects with RIS and without neurological symptom aged 22-45 year from a single-center have been examined for the occurrence of definite MS. ...

How much radiologically isolated syndrome suggestive of multiple sclerosis is multiple sclerosis?
In spite of the progress in Neuroimmunology, a specific biomarker for the diagnosis of multiple sclerosis (MS) remains to be defined. Meanwhile, as growing enthusiasm has been associated with the development of new therapeutic options and the recent evidence that the disease-modifying agents may be more beneficial for MS patients if initiated as early as possible following disease onset1, inves...
