Sand mining is an important economic activity and has been undertaken across the world over centuries. However, indiscriminate sand activities have detrimental socio-economic environmental effects. The objective of current study was to determine effects in Mbiuni Ward, Mwala Constituency, Machakos County, Kenya. Stratified random sampling enabled arrive at a sample size made up miners, loaders, drivers, land owners, truck others. involved collection data through observation oral interviews were used administer questionnaires. found that impacts such as drug substance abuse, increase school drop-out rate, violence, improved livelihoods. Environmental include degradation, widening river channel, water pollution, deforestation, pollution. In conclusion, social-economic Ward.
