Socio-demographic determinants of pregnancy induced hypertension

Background: Pregnancy induced hypertension is a major health problem affecting the maternal and neonatal health, this serious obstetric occurs in women with pre-existing primary or secondary who are not having before pregnancy.Methods: A cross-sectional study was carried out among suffering from pregnancy hypertension, admitted gynaecology wards of Lal-Ded hospital, Srinagar May 2021 to July 2021. total 100 sample patients were taken data collected using structured questionnaire. Data analyzed by SPSS 16.0.Results: Women PIH mean age 28 years gestation period being 36 weeks+6 days. Their systolic blood pressure 150 mmHg diastolic 98 mmHg. Out women, 75% multigravida 25% primigravida 40% history pregnancy. Only 48% had previous pregnancies while 52% no such history. In 14% patients, there an associated systemic disease. 100, belonged rural areas, 15% living urban areas 37% resided semi-urban district. 46% illiterate 54% educated, be it primary, higher level. 8% employed rest house wives. 11% been gynaecologist during their 13% one visit done, 30% two three more antenatal visits. 67% relatives.Conclusions: socio-demographic determinants like mother, pressure, hypertensive disorders relatives,do show correlation Among these, chronic relatives high BP seemed strongest risk factors these women.
