Smoking habits, attitudes and determinants among university aged population: Comparison of pharmacy and non-pharmacy students from a private university in Lebanon

Objective: To assess the prevalence of smoking among pharmacy students and to analyse how affects students’ attitudes towards cessation practices. Methods: An online questionnaire was distributed from five schools at Lebanese International University as part a cross-sectional study. It looked into sociodemographic identities, beliefs, consultation procedures. Results: A total 1372 were enrolled in study (159 1213 non-pharmacy students). Almost half participants (45.0%) current smokers, with males accounting for majority. There substantial correlation between knowledge smoking's health implications status (p = 0.021). Nonsmoking more likely than smokers offer advice < 0.0001). Conclusion: high determined students, which should be addressed by boosting tobacco awareness efforts enforcing strict anti-smoking policies on college premises.
