چکیده
A suitable initial point for understanding multiphase flows is a phenomenological description of the mechanism geometric distributions or flow patterns that are observed. The challenge however prediction combination operating conditions and characteristics phases as well points transition from one pattern to other. Different occur in different pipeline configurations which U-shape risers part. In quest stabilise unstable slug riser, an experimental study gas-liquid mixture conducted understand behaviour riser. This paper seeks dynamics 2-inch internal diameter riser system with much emphasis on flow. initiation this instabilities impact downcomer investigated experimentally. Understanding could help developing effective control techniques flowlines. Experimentally, observed configuration used develop regime map was then compared literature similarly purely vertical similar pipe diameter. Thus, envelope developed identify regions slugging system.

Cascade Control Experiments of Riser Slug Flow Using Topside Measurements
Anti-slug control applied to two-phase flow provides a very challenging and important application for feedback control. It is important because it allows for operation that would otherwise be impossible, and challenging because of the presence of both RHP-poles and RHP-zeros. To conduct experiments on pipeline-riser anti-slug control, a small-scale slug-loop has been build. The loop has been mo...

Original SPE manuscript received for review 24 July 2008. Revised manuscript received for review 11 May 2009. Paper (SPE 120040) peer approved 23 May 2009. Summary This is the second of two papers describing control experiments on a medium-scale slug rig. The first paper (Sivertsen et al. 2009) describes experiments performed on a small-scale laboratory rig built at the Norwegian University of ...
متن کاملThe Indication of Two-Phase Flow Pattern and Slug Characteristics in a Pipeline Using CFD Method
Multiphase flows are commonly encountered in oil and gas industries. The transport of multiphase flow causes the formation of slug, the increase of pressure drop and the possibility of phase changes therefore, a set of simulation runs was performed to predict flow regimes in a horizontal pipeline, and the results were compared with the Baker chart. The effects of small downward inclinations of ...
متن کاملCharacterization of Liquid Film Thickness in Slug-Regime Microchannel Flows
An experimental investigation is conducted to examine the effects of operating conditions and channel size on the liquid film thickness of vapor bubbles in adiabatic air-water flows within the slug flow regime. Acrylic test sections are fabricated to contain a single microchannel of square cross-section with hydraulic diameters of 510 μm and 1020 μm. High-speed visualizations are used to map th...
متن کاملCompact Model of Slug Flow in Microchannels
n ABSTRACT This paper presents a theoretical investigation of the movement of liquid droplets and slugs in hydrophobic microchannels and develops a compact model for this type of two-phase flow. This model is used in the prediction of pressure drop and liquid water coverage ratio, key parameters in the operation of Proton Exchange Membrane Fuel Cells (PEMFC), the primary motivation for this wor...
