Slow steaming application for short-sea shipping to comply with the CII regulation

چکیده

Slow steaming is an effective operational measure that reduces fuel consumption and thus emissions on board. With the Carbon Intensity Indicator (CII) regulation coming into force in 2023 from International Maritime Organization (IMO), ships will have to reduce their CO2 even more. The practice of slow important comply with this regulation. In study, real voyage data a general cargo ship was used. changes consumption, CO2, CH4, N2O, BC emissions, 20-year global warming potential (GWP20), 100-year (GWP100) were analysed under different scenarios (75%, 38%, 27%, 19% main engine load), expenses cost-benefit ratio calculated. At 38% load, 31.5% less released than at 75% load. 27% emission reduction 40.6% 50.1%, respectively. target 40% by 2030 50% 2050 compared 2008 levels IMO Initial GHG Strategy achieved steaming. As decreased due application steaming, had positive impact ship's CII rating it remained A without further action. Nevertheless, remains amount varies depending rate three scenarios, shows environmental each not same. results economic analysis show operating costs increase decrease when travel time extended result, total up 23.3%.

Wave height incidence on Mediterranean Short Sea Shipping routes

According to the recent mid term review of the EU white paper on transport, Short Sea Shipping in EU waters is expected to grow from 2000 to 2020 at a rate of 59% in volume (metric tonnes). If we consider that the overall expected growth in freight exchanges is of 50% (also in volume), sea transport is one of the most feasible ways to reduce traffic congestion on European roads. High speed vess...

Short Sea Shipping route and stowage plan optimization

Short Sea Shipping is the name given to the use of ships to transport cargo within a country, or between neighboring countries. The European Union considers all intra-European sea transport as Short Sea Shipping, and has defined its efficient use as a strategic goal. This form of transport has many recognized advantages over rail and road, but suffers from lack of flexibility. In this paper we ...
