Sleep Disorder Prevalence among Brazilian Children and Adolescents with Down Syndrome: An Observational Study

Background: Down syndrome (DS) is the most common chromosomal disorder and related to congenital heart disease, sleep disorders obesity. Sleep problems are in DS children, including obstructive apnea. This study aimed investigate prevalence of a group 41 children adolescents, by two validated questionnaires. Methods: qualitative observational study. The guardians individuals (1–17 years old) answered questionnaires (sleep questionnaire Reimão Lefévre–QRL scale for children–SDSC) using Google forms tool. Results: Most wake up at least once during night (68.28%), day (56%) fall asleep within 15 30 min (36.58%), urinate (53.65%), move around lot while sleeping (78.04) snore (53.66%). In SDSC, 36.59% (n = 15) have some 29.3% 12) sleep-disordered breathing. Conclusions: adolescents present sleep-compromising factors. Moreover, apnea prevalent Considering findings current study, an important tool evaluate adolescents.
