Skin surface lipids photo‐oxidation: A vibrational spectroscopy study

چکیده
Skin surface lipid (SSL) film is a mixture of sebum and epidermal lipids protecting the skin from effects environment such as solar radiation. SSLs are suitable target scavenger for all reactive oxygen species (ROS) generated in skin. In SSLs, vitamin E has been identified one main antioxidants that can capture ROS. This paper third part global study evaluates effect radiation on classes constitute SSLs. first two parts, fatty acids triglycerides was studied using vibrational spectroscopy. this part, other squalene (SQ), cholesterol (Chol), wax ester (WE) (Palmitoleyl Palmitate) then behavior under monitored. Finally, were irradiated analyzed spectroscopy HT-GC/MS to respectively follow oxidation process identify When alone, SQ detectable only after 2430 J/cm2 dose. Similar observations obtained (after 1620 J/cm2). No changes observed Palmitate). contrast, when extracted human irradiated, more marked modifications SQ. confirmed antioxidant role by scavenging free radicals polyunsaturated (PUFA).

Skin Surface Lipids in Infants
The lipid on the surface of human skin is composed of wax esters and squalene from the sebaceous glands, cholesterol and cholesterol esters arising predominantly from the superficial epidermis, and glycerides plus free fatty acids from both sources. The activity of the sebaceous glands goes th rough a number of phases and is largely dependent on underlying endocrine factors. It is high immediat...

متن کاملSurface-Enhanced Impulsive Coherent Vibrational Spectroscopy
Surface-enhanced Raman spectroscopy (SERS) has attracted a lot of attention in molecular sensing because of the remarkable ability of plasmonic metal nanostructures to enhance the weak Raman scattering process. On the other hand, coherent vibrational spectroscopy triggered by impulsive excitation using ultrafast laser pulses provides complete information about the temporal evolution of molecula...
متن کاملAntimicrobial lipids at the skin surface
The skin surface represents our interface with the external environment, and as such, is our first line of defense against microbial colonization and infection. Lipids at the skin surface are thought to underlie at least part of an antimicrobial barrier. Some of these lipids are synthesized in the epidermis and are carried to the surface as cells differentiate, whereas others are secreted onto ...
متن کاملBroadband vibrational sum frequency generation spectroscopy of a liquid surface.
An important advance in surface science has been the evolution of sum frequency generation to the application of studying surface structure and chemistry of liquid surfaces at the molecular-level by probing the vibrational signatures of surface molecules. Recently, broad-bandwidth sum frequency generation (BBSFG) spectroscopy has become an important tool for investigating gas-solid interfaces. ...
