Site-specific seismic hazard levels at the economic zone of Duqm, Oman

Abstract A site-specific probabilistic seismic hazard assessment (PSHA) was achieved in the area of special economic zone authority Duqm, involving evaluation at bedrock conditions and assurance potential site influence on ground motion bedrock. Appropriate source ground-motion prediction models were selected hazards identified by means 5% damped Uniform Hazard Spectra (UHS) for three return periods 475, 975, 2475 years. logic-tree algorithm used to study epistemic uncertainties models, earthquake recurrency maximum magnitude, along with equations (GMPEs). The local geology effects characterized fundamental resonance frequency (Fo) using horizontal-to-vertical spectral ratio technique soil amplification factors. assessed SHAKE91 parameters defined 55 geotechnical boreholes conjunction surveys 2D multichannel analysis surface waves (MASW) 90 sites. Scaling performed strong-motion applying matching be column bottom. Selection such records is based scenarios deaggregation PSHA results tops. Duqm mostly features low amplifications, below 1.3 considered spectrum. Surface maps show values Peak Ground Accelerations (PGA) vary between about 2 g a 475-year period. Although several sites are susceptible liquefy, liquefaction analyses indicate that motions period insufficient produce liquefaction.
