Single-Frequency 336 W Spliceless All-Fiber Amplifier Based on a Chirally-Coupled-Core Fiber for the Next Generation of Gravitational Wave Detectors

چکیده

Specialty fibers such as chirally-coupled-core show a high potential for further power scaling of single-frequency fiber amplifiers. For the first time, we demonstrate spliceless all-fiber amplifier, where all optical components are directly integrated in single Yb$^{3+}$-doped 3C-fiber. Such laser design enables compact and robust architecture using specialty fibers, while maintaining excellent beam properties. At an output 336 W operating at 1064 nm, fundamental mode content 90.4% polarization extinction ratio above 13 dB was measured without any impact transverse instabilities or other parasitic effects. This work emphasizes field applications 3C-fibers high-power systems.

Fundamental mode, single-frequency laser amplifier for gravitational wave detectors.

An amplifier design for efficient amplification of linearly polarized fundamental mode lasers is presented. The concept was verified by amplifying single-frequency input powers from 1 W to 20 W into output power ranges of 35 W up to 65 W. Beam quality measurements with a mode-analyzer cavity showed only minor beam quality degradation due to the amplification process.

50-W 2-μm Nanosecond All-Fiber-Based Thulium-Doped Fiber Amplifier

We report a two-stage 2-μm Tm3+ fiber amplifier seeded by an acousto-optic modulator (AOM) modulated narrowbandwidth pulsed laser. Maximum output average power is over 50 W (slope efficiency of ∼58%) at 50 kHz repetition rate, providing record performance in nanosecond 2-μm all-fiber-based amplifiers. The maximum pulse energy and peak power are ∼1.0 mJ and 10 kW, respectively. The pulse width c...

Development of a frequency-detuned interferometer as a prototype experiment for next-generation gravitational-wave detectors.

We report on our prototype experiment that uses a 4-m detuned resonant sideband extraction interferometer with suspended mirrors, which has almost the same configuration as the next-generation, gravitational-wave detectors. We have developed a new control scheme and have succeeded in the operation of such an interferometer with suspended mirrors for the first time ever as far as we know. We bel...

Energy scaling of mode-locked fiber lasers with chirally-coupled core fiber

We report a mode-locked dissipative soliton laser based on large-mode-area chirally-coupled-core Yb-doped fiber. This demonstrates scaling of a fiber oscillator to large mode area in a format that directly holds the lowest-order mode and that is also compatible with standard fiber integration. With an all-normal-dispersion cavity design, chirped pulse energies above 40 nJ are obtained with dech...
