چکیده
Aerobic Granular Biomass (AGB) technology is widely used for urban and industrial wastewater treatment, however, its application in groundwater remediation, practically unknown. A mixture of carbendazim, simazine, diuron were amended to the nitrate-polluted synthetic at increasing concentrations validate ability remove both kind pollutants, pesticides nitrate which are commonly found water resources. The removal was a success with values below 0.010 g·L-1. increased concentration influent did not distort pattern observed pesticide removal. Carbendazim almost completely eliminated, followed by simazine elimination, while showed adsorption-desorption patterns during experimentation. addition had drastic effect on basal community conducted proliferation Hyphomicrobium Dokdonella. compounds negative number copies fungal population, archaeal population unharmed, according qPCR results. Denitrifying bacteria need 70 days as acclimatization period achieving activity initial inoculum. results obtained have shown first time capacity AGB system treat polluted using low carbon load. Therefore, suggested potential purification nitrates pesticides.

Simultaneous nitritation and p-nitrophenol removal using aerobic granular biomass in a continuous airlift reactor.
The chemical and petrochemical industries produce wastewaters containing ammonium and phenolic compounds. Biological treatment of these wastewaters could be problematic due to the possible inhibitory effects exerted by phenolic compounds. The feasibility of performing simultaneous nitritation and p-nitrophenol (PNP) biodegradation using a continuous aerobic granular reactor was evaluated. A nit...

Aerobic granular sludge technology offers a possibility to design compact wastewater treatment plants based on simultaneous chemical oxygen demand (COD), nitrogen and phosphate removal in one sequencing batch reactor. In earlier studies, it was shown that aerobic granules, cultivated with an aerobic pulse-feeding pattern, were not stable at low dissolved oxygen concentrations. Selection for slo...
متن کاملNitrate removal from groundwater using electrolytic reduction method
Nitrate (NO3) contamination of groundwater is a major concern throughout intensive agricultural areas. In the present laboratory scale study, an electrolytic reduction method employing copper cathode and insoluble triple mixed oxide anode was studied for the denitrification of groundwater in a divided cell. Influence of process parameters such as pH, current density and time were studied and th...
متن کاملNitrate Removal from Aqueous Solutions Using Granular Activated Carbon Modified with Iron Nanoparticles (RESEARCH NOTE)
Nitrate contamination of water resources and the growing concentration of nitrate endanger human health and the environment and considering its reduction strategies from water resources is important. The aim of this study was to investigate the possibility of removal of nitrate from aqueous solutions using granular activated carbon from grape wood coated with iron nanoparticles. The results sho...
متن کاملApplication of Granular Ferric Hydroxide in Removal of Nitrate from Aqueous Solutions
The aim of this study is to investigate the nitrate adsorption on granular ferric hydroxide (GFH). The effect of factors such as initial concentration of nitrate, pH, contact time, and adsorbent mass were determined. The study was done in laboratory–scale in which synthetic nitrate solutions in a batch reactor were placed in contact with the adsorbent to model adsorption kinetics. It was found ...
