Chlorinated hydrocarbons in women with repeated miscarriages.
This study was conducted to investigate a possible etiological role of chlorinated hydrocarbons in the pathogenesis of repeated miscarriages. The blood levels of chlorinated hydrocarbons [CHCs: pentachlorophenol, hexachlorocyclohexane, hexachlorobenzene, the dichlorodiphenyltrichloroethane (DDT) group, polychlorinated biphenyls] were determined in 89 women with repeated miscarriages, who were r...
متن کاملBehavioral toxicology, risk assessment, and chlorinated hydrocarbons.
Behavioral end points are being used with greater frequency in neurotoxicology to detect and characterize the adverse effects of chemicals on the nervous system. Behavioral measures are particularly important for neurotoxicity risk assessment since many known neurotoxicants do not result in neuropathology. The chlorinated hydrocarbon class consists of a wide variety of chemicals including polyc...
متن کاملThe Toxicity of the Chlorinated Hydrocarbons *
Because of their non-inflammability and their strong solvent properties the chlor compounds of the petroleum series have a wide and increasing use as degreasers of metal, cleansers of textiles, dry cleansers, solvents for rubber, tar, and gums, thinners for cellulose lacquers, and in treatment of garbage, tankage, and bones. Other uses are the production of high-grade lubricating oils from infe...
متن کاملComprehensive force field for multiply-chlorinated hydrocarbons
A force field is presented that has been optimized for chlorinated hyrocarbons containing isolated, vicinal, and geminal secondary chlorines. For carbon-chlorine stretch modes, 74 frequencies in 10 molecules are reproduced with an average error of 4.5 cm-‘. This force field can therefore serve to study these conformation-dependent modes in multiply-chlorinated hydrocarbons.
متن کاملCapillary Electrochromatography: Polycyclic Aromatic Hydrocarbons
Electrochromatography is utilized to separate a mixture of 16 different polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons (PAHs). Fused-silica capillary columns ranging in size from 50 to 150 pm i.d. were packed (20-40-cm sections) with 3-pm octadecylsilica particles. A potential of 15-30 kV is applied across the 30-50-cm total length capillary column to generate electroosmotic flow that carries the PAHs throug...
