Simulation of Polymer Chemical Enhanced Oil Recovery in Ghawar Field

This paper presents a 2D model of the Ghawar field and investigates flow behavior in during secondary tertiary recoveries using simplified well scheme. For latter, focus is on chemical Enhanced Oil Recovery (EOR), polymer solutions. The difference efficiency between recovery influence factors such as degradation are analyzed presented. Furthermore, oil viscosity factor investigated placement studied. In order to do this, combined shear-thinning/-thickening model, Unified Viscosity Model (UVM), used. COMSOL Multiphysics used study combining fluid mass transfer one study, showing interdependence both physics transport phenomena. results show how properties rock formation affect behavior. particle tracing allows us determine percentage agent recovered producing wells. shows EOR agents works coupled with advanced numerical models real-scale fields.
