Simulation of a turbulent annulus with interfacial waves in core-annular pipe flow

چکیده

Interfacial waves in core-annular pipe flow are studied through two-phase numerical simulations. Here the water annulus is turbulent, whereas oil core stays laminar. The low-Reynolds number Launder & Sharma k−ε model applied. By extracting moving wave shape from results and imposing this as a solid boundary single-phase simulation for gives (for pressure drop holdup ratio) that close agreement with values obtained approach. influence of amplitude length on hold up ratio then by using model. This insight appearance flow, where water-based Fanning wall-friction factor hold-up selected most important quantities. effect watercut eccentricity these quantities also investigated.

Masters Thesis: Numerical Simulation of Core-Annular Flow in a Curved Pipe

A numerical study, using the volume-of-fluid method (VOF), has been made of core-annular flow in a curved pipe. We investigated two cases: core-annular flow in a 90◦ bend and in a 180◦ return bend. To verify our numerical method we first compared our results for a singlephase flow in a 90◦ bend with numerical results and experimental data given in the literature. The agreement was good. Thereaf...

Stationary core-annular flow through a horizontal pipe.

A theoretical investigation has been made of core-annular flow: the flow of a high-viscosity liquid core surrounded by a low-viscosity annular liquid layer through a horizontal pipe. Special attention is paid to the question how the buoyancy force on the core, caused by a possible density difference between the core and the annular layer, is counterbalanced. From earlier studies it is known tha...

Core-annular flow through a horizontal pipe: Hydrodynamic counterbalancing of buoyancy force on core

A theoretical investigation has been made of core-annular flow: the flow of a high-viscosity liquid core surrounded by a low-viscosity liquid annular layer through a horizontal pipe. Special attention is paid to the question of how the buoyancy force on the core, caused by a density difference between the core and the annular layer, is counterbalanced. From earlier studies it is known that at t...
