چکیده
Background/Aim. Dysregulation of fatty acid (FA) metabolism is recognized as a component malignant trans-formation in many cancers, including breast cancer (BC), and often related to disease progression prognosis. Adjuvant endocrine BC therapy using aromatase inhibitors may also influence FA metabolism. Thus, the aim our study was compare plasma total lipids status newly diagnosed postmenopausal patients with women receiving at least 2 years after completing chemotherapy healthy women. Methods. The included 17 (ND group) 21 inhibitor ending (AI group), while 15 apparently without family history BC, comparable age body mass index, served control group. Results. In both patient groups, we found significantly lower levels vaccenic (18:1n-7), alpha-linolenic (18:3n-3), gamma-linolenic (GLA, 18:3n-6), docosapentae-noic (22:5n-3), higher level di-homo-gamma-linolenic (20:3n-6), when compared On other hand, stearic (18:0) observed only AI patients, linoleic (18:2n-6) ND than Reduced estimated activities D6 D5 desaturases were groups Conclusion. Our results indicate that profiles diagnosed, untreated are very similar those cured who underwent all sessions received for two years. Additionally, according results, their markedly differ from Therefore, supplementation omega-3 GLA could have beneficial effects these further studies should address potential clinical benefits supplementation.

Aromatase inhibitors and mammographic breast density in postmenopausal women receiving hormone therapy.
OBJECTIVE One of the main concerns regarding long-term use of hormone therapy (HT) in symptomatic menopausal women is the perceived increased risk of breast cancer. A method to reduce breast cancer risk in this population of women is urgently needed. We hypothesized that adding aromatase inhibitors (AIs) to HT would reduce local breast estrogen exposure and breast cancer risk without altering t...
متن کاملSurvival Benefit of Zoledronic Acid in Postmenopausal Breast Cancer Patients Receiving Aromatase Inhibitors
PURPOSE A growing body of evidence indicates that zoledronic acid (ZA) can improve the clinical outcome in patients with breast cancer and low estrogen levels. In the present study, we aimed to investigate the survival benefit of ZA administration in postmenopausal Korean women with breast cancer who were also receiving aromatase inhibitors. METHODS Between January 2004 and December 2010, 235...

Treatment with aromatase inhibitors for postmenopausal women with breast cancer has been shown to reduce or obviate invasive procedures such as hysteroscopy or curettage associated with tamoxifen-induced endometrial abnormalities. The side effect of upfront aromatase inhibitors, diminished estrogen synthesis, is similar to that seen with the natural events of aging. The consequences often inclu...
