Silver Nanoparticle‐Loaded Contact Lenses for Blue‐Yellow Color Vision Deficiency

Contact lenses can be functionalized to offer advanced capabilities transcending their primary applications in vision correction and cosmetics. Herein, 40 60 nm spherical silver nanoparticles (SNPs) are integrated within poly(2-hydroxyethyl methacrylate) (pHEMA) contact toward fabrication of SNP-loaded with excellent optical material properties as wearables for blue-yellow color deficiency (CVD) patients. The morphology the SNPs characterized prepolymerization using transmission electron microscopy (TEM) an spectrophotometer. Then, spectra at different concentrations along wettability water content measured, demonstrate effect NPs’ addition on lenses’ characteristics. Results indicate that lenses, optimum concentrations, filter out problematic wavelengths visible light (485–495 nm), which will facilitate better distinction CVD analogous commercial colorblind glasses, indicating effectiveness filtering wearables. Finally, cytobiocompatability analysis RAW 264.7 culture cells shows they biocompatible, cell viability remains higher than 75% after 24 h lenses.
