Silica Synthesis from Oil Palm Mill Boiler Ash Under Different Concentration of NaOH and Extraction Time

Abstract Boiler ash from palm oil mill contains high SiO2compound. The boiler used in this study was PKS Cikasungka PTPN VIII, Bogor. research objectives were to (i) optimize the conditions of silica synthesis process ash, (ii) analyze content synthesis, (iii) and performance as a moisture absorber. This designed using central composite design (CCD) variables optimized response surface method (RSM), sol-gel measured XRF. absorber also studied determine appropriate adsorption kinetics at 32%, 64%, 75%, 85% 97% RH conditions. results showed that optimum produced highest yield (41.17%) solvent concentration 7.39 M extraction time 78.13 minutes. gel is white powder with SiO2content 79.20%. water vapor 64% simulated first order model, while other treatments second pseudo model. At 32% had higher k value 0.086 g/g/day than 0.011 g/g/day.
