Signatures of farther neighbor couplings in artificial square ice

چکیده

The analysis of the magnetic structure factor obtained after imaging a field-demagnetized artificial square ice reveals qualitative deviations from what would predict six-vertex model. More specifically, additional features appear for certain $q$ vectors in experimental that are absent theoretical one. Using Monte Carlo simulations, we demonstrate these originate dipolarlike, farther neighbor couplings. Our results thus show long-range magnetostatic interactions coupling nanomagnets not totally washed out and cannot be neglected as they impact correlations within or at vicinity manifold. Artificial systems then expected to ultimately order, provided ground state can approached.

Thermally induced magnetic relaxation in square artificial spin ice

The properties of natural and artificial assemblies of interacting elements, ranging from Quarks to Galaxies, are at the heart of Physics. The collective response and dynamics of such assemblies are dictated by the intrinsic dynamical properties of the building blocks, the nature of their interactions and topological constraints. Here we report on the relaxation dynamics of the magnetization of...

Linear field demagnetization of artificial magnetic square ice

*Correspondence: Christopher H. Marrows, School of Physics and Astronomy, University of Leeds, Leeds LS2 9JT, UK e-mail: [email protected] We have studied experimentally the states formed in artificial square ice nanomagnet systems following demagnetization in a rotating in-plane applied magnetic field that reduces to zero in a manner that is linear in time. The final states are found to ...

Brillouin light scattering study of magnetic-element normal modes in a square artificial spin ice geometry

We report the results, from experimental and micromagnetic studies, of the magnetic normal modes in artificial square spin ice systems consisting of ferromagnetic-monodomain islands. Spin-wave properties are measured by Brillouin light scattering. The mode spectra contain several branches whose frequencies are sensitive to the magnitude and in-plane orientation of an applied magnetic field. We ...

Perfect State Transfer: Beyond Nearest-Neighbor Couplings

In this paper we build on the ideas presented in previous works for perfectly transferring a quantum state between opposite ends of a spin chain using a fixed Hamiltonian. While all previous studies have concentrated on nearest-neighbor couplings, we demonstrate how to incorporate additional terms in the Hamiltonian by solving an Inverse Eigenvalue Problem. We also explore issues relating to th...
