چکیده

In this paper, wave propagation is considered in a medium described by fractional-order model, which formulated with the use of two-sided fractional derivative Ortigueira and Machado. Although relation to causality clearly specified its definition, there no obvious between transfer function induced derivative. Hence, system investigated; output an electromagnetic signal propagating media time-domain It demonstrated that, for order range [1,+?), describing attenuated not causal any value asymmetry parameter On other hand, it shown orders (0,1), if only equal certain specific values corresponding left-sided Grünwald–Letnikov The results are illustrated numerical simulations analyses. Some comments on Kramers–Krönig relations logarithm presented as well.

Electromagnetic Pulse Propagation in Passive Media by the Lanczos Method

Maxwell’s equations are cast in the form of the Schrödinger equation. The Lanczos propagation method is used in combination with the fast Fourier pseudospectral method to solve the initial value problem. As a result, a time-domain, unconditionally stable, and highly efficient numerical algorithm is obtained for the propagation and scattering of broad-band electromagnetic pulses in dispersive an...

Electromagnetic pulse propagation in passive media by path integral methods

A novel time domain solver of Maxwell’s equations in passive (dispersive and absorbing) media is proposed. The method is based on the path integral formalism of quantum theory and entails the use of (i) the Hamiltonian formalism and (ii) pseudospectral methods (the fast Fourier transform, in particular) of solving differential equations. In contrast to finite differencing schemes, the path inte...

Boundary Conditions for Two-Sided Fractional Diffusion

This paper develops appropriate boundary conditions for the two-sided fractional diffusion equation, where the usual second derivative in space is replaced by a weighted average of positive and negative fractional derivatives. Mass preserving, reflecting boundary conditions for two-sided fractional diffusion involve a balance of left and right fractional derivatives at the boundary. Stable, con...

Digital signal propagation in dispersive media

In this article, the propagation of digital and analog signals through media which, in general, are both dissipative and dispersive is modeled using the one-dimensional telegraph equation. Input signals are represented using impulsive, Heaviside unit step, Gaussian, rectangular pulse, and both unmodulated and modulated sinusoidal pulse type boundary data. Applications to coaxial transmission li...

The new implicit finite difference scheme for two-sided space-time fractional partial differential equation

Fractional order partial differential equations are generalizations of classical partial differential equations. Increasingly, these models are used in applications such as fluid flow, finance and others. In this paper we examine some practical numerical methods to solve a class of initial- boundary value fractional partial differential equations with variable coefficients on a finite domain. S...
