Siblings as a Context for Positive Development: Closeness, Communication, and Well-Being

To address a gap in the literature we examined sibling relationships as context for positive development. Specifically, between individual well-being, closeness, and frequency of communication were explored. The goal this study was to determine whether well-being moderated relationship perceived closeness. Participants included subsample (n = 236) youth from larger who reported having at least one sibling. Data collected through Amazon’s Mechanical Turk. Hierarchical multiple regression analyses revealed that associations closeness statistically significant, highly correlated, regardless differences. Neither emotional, psychological, nor social Limitations future directions are considered.
