Siamese, Indian, and Brazilian Rosewoods: A Review on Phytochemistry, Applications, and Pharmacology

For the first time, current review fully provides information on phytochemicals, applications, and pharmacological aspects relating to 3 Dalbergia species, Siamese Rosewood ( cochinchinensis Pierre ex Laness.), Indian D sissoo Roxb.), Brazilian nigra (Vell.) Benth.). Based chromatographic separation, phytochemical studies these plants have, date, resulted in isolation structural elucidation of 136 secondary metabolites. Among them, flavonoids simple phenols are major components, whereas terpenoids, quinones, benzofurans, benzophenols, phytosterols, stilbenes, phthalates, xanthones, lignans have been also detected. rosewoods heavy strong, taking an outstanding polish, very suitable for furniture. They used as natural dyes, raw materials removing contaminants from water, might be a rich resource essential oils, polysaccharides, active glycosidase enzymes. crude extracts their metabolites wide range actions, such anti-inflammatory, anti-oxidative, anti-aging, anti-bacterial, anti-nociceptive, anti-diarrheal, anti-pyretic, gastrointestinal, biocontrol activities, but sexual anti-osteoporosis activities most valuable.
